We are here today 8/30/2010 at Texas Children's Hospital, Ray has been admitted because tomorrow 8/31/2010 at 730A he will have a catheter placed in his abdomen so we can do PD(Peritoneal Dialysis) at home. Since our last post we had a Renal Dialysis nurse - Laura come and do a home visit and made sure our place was sterile and adequate for storage for his supplies, which we passed. We have passed several milestones for his upcoming dialysis that now it seems more real plus it is getting closer to that time. We seriously couldn't do this alone - thanks to all our friends & family who have been there, sent prayers and kept up with our sons condition. This past weekend was our last normal one so we and his aunt took him to Galveston TX on 8/29/2010 so he can enjoy the day without any worries. He had such a great time but was a little scared of the seaweed and the waves of the ocean. It seems so easy for the doctors but it will be something new and hard for us because he is still running around and very active. I will have to be on top of every move he makes + keep his catheter site very sterile. In a few weeks we will undergo 2 weeks 9/20/2010 training for PD to become his full time nurses. But that only means we will do our best for my little man. Once again thanks for all the great friend support and donations - it means so much. Since he got surgery we had a little scare on 9/2/2010 we went back because I thought he had blood in his catheter but it was only the iodine that was put to keep his catheter sterile. But we will be going back every week (Wednesdays) to get his catheter flushed and to do a gauze change and follow up on him recovering. We would like to thank all of our doctors and nurses at Texas Children's Hospital who helped us and comfort us on our recent stay there.
